New Dad Chaos, Diaper Disasters & Wedding Shenanigans
King Scott is back from paternity leave, which means it’s time for the proud new dad to tell us all about the miracle of childbirth while the rest of the show asks every inappropriate follow-up question imaginable. Welcome back, buddy. We missed you. This funny podcast starts with King Scott taking us through the arrival of St Louis's official princess, from contractions kicking into high gear to the 4 a.m. hospital trip and the slightly optimistic prediction that the baby would arrive in about two hours. Spoiler: she did not respect the schedule. After a long day of labor, an epidural and plenty of waiting, Scott finally got to watch his daughter enter the world, cut the cord and experience that completely surreal moment of realizing, “Oh… we’re responsible for keeping this person alive now.” Naturally, the crew handles this beautiful story with all the maturity you’d expect, including discussions about break dancers breaking water, newborns looking like catcher’s mitts and whether Creed should just play continuously throughout maternity wards. Then comes the first drive home, introducing the baby to the dogs and learning just how much stuff modern parents apparently need. Scott’s hand-me-down Doona stroller/car-seat contraption gets dubbed a “baby Transformer,” because apparently infants now require equipment more advanced than the vehicles most of us drove in high school. And then fatherhood officially welcomes Scott to the club. During a middle-of-the-night diaper change, his daughter unleashes what can only be described as a poop volcano directly onto Dad. That’s love. That’s bonding. That’s also a shirt immediately entering the washing machine. Outside the nursery, Rizz has some questions after Lafayette’s homecoming pep rally recognizes the school’s athletes… except the hockey team. The hockey players are standing there in their jerseys while everybody else gets their moment, leaving the crew to investigate the apparent discrimination against teenagers willing to voluntarily get slammed into boards. Somehow this also leads to the discovery that esports coaches are real, scholarships exist and we have absolutely no clue how you make a gamer “run laps.” Then this funny podcast heads to Jamie Rivers and Ashley’s wedding, where the crew arrives ready to celebrate and discovers the “heavy appetizers” have already been demolished. Nothing says romance like showing up hungry and finding one surviving broccoli floret. The party eventually migrates to a speakeasy, complete with a puzzle to get inside — something Rizz has approximately zero patience for after a night of celebrating. Once inside, things escalate into exactly the kind of radio-industry wedding afterparty you’d expect: drinks flowing, coworkers getting increasingly affectionate, another bride arriving to discover the Rizz Show crew has basically occupied the joint, and enough former hockey enforcers nearby that Rafe suddenly feels extremely confident about winning any hypothetical bar fight. New babies. Diaper explosions. Baby Transformers. Forgotten hockey players. Missing wedding food. Speakeasy puzzles. And radio people proving once again that apparently nobody taught them when the party is over. It’s parenthood, weddings and beautifully questionable decision-making packed into one funny podcast from The Rizzuto Show.
