6. CHINA - Trump Meets Xi In Washington - CHARLES BURTON & GORDON CHANG 093026
1906 PEKING Trump Meets Xi In Washington Charles Burton, co-host Gordon Chang: Burton evaluates the summit between U.S. and Chinese leaders in Washington, describing it as a diplomatic spectacle that delivered virtually no substantive policy agreements. Critical issues like artificial intelligence safeguards, Taiwan's sovereignty, and trade imbalances were completely omitted, handing Beijing a domestic propaganda victory. Burton also examines Canadian political dynamics under Mark Carney, where public sentiment has grown increasingly nationalistic and supportive of trade diversification toward Europe and India. This shift comes in response to economic pressure, U.S. tariffs, and covert intimidation operations conducted by Chinese state agents on Canadian soil. (6)
