7. ARCTIC - Greenland Defense Strategy Secures North - BRADLEY BOWMAN 093026
1899 GREENLAND - Greenland Defense Strategy Secures North Bradley Bowman highlights Greenland's vital geographic role in North American defense, dominating the GIUK gapand providing early warning detection against Russian and Chinese missile threats. While recent defense agreements properly expand radar facilities and military infrastructure, Bowman argues that coercive political tactics unnecessarily strained relations with Denmark, a steadfast NATO ally. Effective Arctic defense requires the three-D kill chain: detect, decide, and deliver. Because the U.S. lacks sufficient icebreakers and polar infrastructure, deep defense cooperation with Arctic allies like Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Canada remains indispensable for hemispheric security.
