108: Substantive Cinema | Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) feat. Jason & Hannah Chao

We've covered a lot of great movies on the podcast before (see list below), but we may have never been more on the same page as this one. Everything Everywhere All at Once is a funny, action-packed, mind-bending film that deals with multiverse theory and features several alternate universe versions of its protagonists, but at its heart it's ultimately a story about a multigenerational family learning to live with and love each other. Joining us to discuss this film is returning guest and SOLA Network editor, Hannah Chao and her husband, filmmaker Jason Chao. We so our best to cover both the universal and specific themes in the film and talk: intergenerational relations, social media overwhelm and its inherent dangers, the Asian American immigrant experience, and the power of empathy & kindness. It was an absolute pleasure and we hope you enjoy it! Shoutouts: Hannah: Pappasito's Cantina (Tex Mex chain) Jason: Atlanta S3 Trevor: Stranger Things S4 Philip: Reservation Dogs Vince: Severence Jason: Film can be viewed on his website: Instagram Hannah: Twitter SOLA Network List of previous Substantive Cinema episodes Follow Us: Share Your Questions/Suggestions/Feedback With Us: Email: Phone: 913-703-3883 Support Us: Support the show with an individual donation on CashApp to $TheSubstancePod or become a monthly supporter at the Anchor link below! --- Support this podcast:
