Question Everything: If It Is a Lie, Who Benefits? (Season Two Opener)

Jesus never once punished anyone for asking Him a question. Season two opens with Leah and Malaine questioning everything, starting with the label they just set down and what deconstructing Christianity has actually done to their walk with Jesus. They talk about the cost of leaving the New Age and the cost of this next step, the lifelong Protestant woman who just found out her King James Bible once held fourteen more books, the church councils and close votes behind doctrine people die on, and why forty five thousand denominations should make anybody pause. Malaine explains why Jesus taught in parables and what children already know about asking questions, then reads the Exodus story the way you would read any book for the first time. Leah brings the receipts on when inerrancy and infallibility were formally defined, Catholic and Protestant, and the one question she runs every belief through. They close on fruit, the warfare narrative, and where the show is headed this season, from the Nag Hammadi texts to the Dead Sea Scrolls. What a lifelong Protestant woman learned about her King James Bible, and why it shook her. How close some of the votes behind church doctrine actually were. Why Malaine says Jesus taught in parables, and what every child already knows about questions. What happens when you read the Exodus story the way you would read any book for the first time. The dates Leah gives for when inerrancy and infallibility were formally defined, Catholic and Protestant. The book that first opened Leah’s heart to Jesus, and why she is telling that story now. The one question Leah runs every belief through, and where it usually points. How Malaine reads the fruit of her own life, and why she stopped calling every glitch spiritual warfare. Featured Scripture Matthew 18:3 “And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (KJV) Application: Malaine points out that children ask questions all day long, and every answer pulls them closer to the one they are asking. Jesus set the child in the middle of the disciples as the model for the kingdom, questions and all. Come to Him with yours this week. He has never once been threatened by an honest question.
