Bravo Bonds: Unpacking Trauma, Therapy & Reality TV with Lo and Michael Sheley
A Gemini and a Capricorn walk onto a podcast... On this episode of Bravo Therapy, I'm joined by associate clinical social worker and my Bravo bestie, Michael Sheley. Yes, the Michael that inspired me to create the pod! We'll discuss our love for reality TV and our experiences with infamous Bravolebs like Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, and Raquel Leviss, in the wild. We'll also share our origin story and how we turned our trauma bond into a forever Bravo bond. Michael gives us his Bravo Background, including his current favorite shows ('Southern Charm,' 'Real Housewives of Potomac,' 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,' and 'Paris in Love') and some of his Bravo stars like Craig Conover, Katie Maloney, and Kristen Doute. Guided by Michael's background in social work and psychology, we're exploring how reality TV, often seen as mere entertainment, can influence perceptions of stability in relationships and offer a unique lens for self-reflection and personal growth. From discussing ketamine therapy to the authenticity of therapy scenes on Bravo shows, Michael and I unravel the complex relationship between reality TV, mental wellness, and personal development.
