What Aggravates Karaoke DJs The Most: Pet Peeves from KJ Shows #DJNTV
DJ Eric, Matthew Shun, DJ Richie Rich, and Elvis Rowan get together for a candid discussion about the things that aggravate karaoke hosts the most—and anyone who has spent time behind the KJ booth will probably recognize a few of these situations. The crew starts with singers who try to manipulate the karaoke rotation by jumping into duets, submitting songs under different names, or finding other ways to get on stage more often. When a busy show might have 30 or more singers waiting, keeping the rotation fair becomes one of the KJ’s most important responsibilities. Other frustrations include singers screaming into expensive microphones, intentionally dropping microphones, bringing drinks dangerously close to DJ equipment, leaning on speakers and DJ booths, and singers who aren’t ready when their name is called. The discussion shows why KJs sometimes need to establish firm boundaries to protect their equipment and keep the show moving. DJ Eric also talks about something audiences rarely see: the preparation required before a karaoke show. Updating music libraries, preparing files, maintaining request systems and making everything accessible to singers takes considerable time before the first song is ever performed. The conversation also gets into mislabeled karaoke tracks, keeping track of the versions regular singers prefer, online versus locally stored karaoke libraries, and what happens when the internet goes down during a show. Having backup options—including local music, a venue jukebox or another connection method—can keep the night moving while technical problems are solved. Ultimately, the discussion highlights something experienced karaoke hosts understand well: running a successful karaoke night requires much more than simply playing tracks. A KJ has to manage people, protect equipment, maintain a fair rotation, troubleshoot technology and keep the entertainment flowing—even when singers don’t always make that easy. #DJNTV #KaraokeDJ #Karaoke #KJ #DJLife #MobileDJ http://www.djeventplanner.com http://www.madebydjs.com http://www.djrequests.com http://www.djntv.com/amazon
