This week we're featuring a story from independent producer Vivien Schütz. When Vivien met Gina in 2019, Gina could still make out her silhouette. Gina, a single mother in New York, was gradually losing her sight due to HIV. Over the next five years, Vivien documented her life as the world Gina could see kept changing. Through personal voice memos, interviews and scenes from everyday life, New Normal follows Gina as she adapts to a changing reality. New Normal recently won a Third Coast Award.
