Forgive one another
Bart talks about the importance of forgiveness in the Christian community. He explains that Jesus teaches us to forgive others as God has forgiven us, citing the parable of the king and his servant. The servant's enormous debt is written off by the king, but he fails to show the same mercy to a fellow servant who owes him a smaller amount. Bart highlights that our debt to God is vast and can only be paid by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. He outlines four steps to forgiveness: recognising the debt, letting our heart go out to the offender, cancelling the debt, and aiming for reconciliation. Bart warns that unforgiveness can wreck churches and that Jesus' warning is clear: unless we forgive our brother or sister from our heart, our heavenly Father will treat us likewise.
