DIVINE WISDOM FOR THE MARKETPLACE YOUR CALLING AND VOCATION SHOULD ALIGN CREATING WEALTH THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP WISDOM, DISCERNMENT, STRATEGY AND ACCELERATION On this episode of Firewall with Lance Wallnau, Lance is joined by Mercedes Sparks for a discussion about applying biblical principles beyond the church and into business, entrepreneurship and everyday vocation. Lance points to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Daniel, David and Solomon as biblical figures whose lives intersected with entrepreneurship, government, leadership and economic activity. Lance focuses on four themes—divine wisdom, discernment, strategy and acceleration—and argues that believers should not separate their spiritual calling from their professional lives. He discusses entrepreneurship and wealth creation, encouraging Christians to align their vocation with their gifts and pursue businesses and enterprises connected to a larger sense of purpose. Lance and Mercedes also discuss the development of their ministry and for-profit media operations, the challenges they encountered when combining religious work with political commentary, and their approach to operating in both ministry and business. Under current IRS guidance, 501(c)(3) organizations remain prohibited from intervening for or against candidates in political campaigns, while organizational leaders retain greater latitude to express political views in their individual capacities. The episode ultimately sets up Lance’s exploration of how believers can seek the “mind of Christ” for their vocation and use what he calls the strategy of preeminence to distinguish themselves in their field.
