The Department Of Midnight

Award-winning writer, Warren Ellis, blends folklore, horror and mystery in this dramatic science fiction series. Dark matter makes up 85% of the universe. Recent scientific theory suggests that dark matter is information - a fifth form of matter - and that we can wake it up. But waking it up can let dark things out. James Callis is Dr. John Carnack. Five years ago, his experiment with dark matter went horribly wrong. Now he works for the Department of Midnight, investigating dangerous dark matter experiments that all seem to be based on leaked papers from his own research.

I enjoyed this X-Files-light series. The science isn't really all that scientific, but the situations and meta story is quite interesting to me. Give it a shot if you're into shows like Kolchak: The Night Stalker.

Great storytelling. Perfect episode and season length for this all star sci-fi mystery gem.

This was such a random listen for me and I usually don’t write reviews after I’m done. But this is such a weirdly fun listen. There are some bits of humor that I wish I could hear again for the first time and the story is incredibly compelling. I could 100% listen to this for another season

I find the world created here really interesting! And the main character is great so far (if you like sarcastic semi-rude but deep down actually good characters.) At the time of writing this review, only season one is out and it’s very short with only a handful of episodes so far. I hope to hear more of this story!
