To be human is to fail – period. And not just to fail once, but to fail a lot. As the author Samuel Beckett said: “Fail again. Fail better.” This saying means a lot to me and my family – so much so that my daughter got a tattoo of it. Why are we, and so many others, so deeply concerned by failure? And if it’s something we all do so often, why are we so afraid of it – especially those of us here in win-at-all-costs America? In this podcast, I sit down with successful, thoughtful people like Ben Stiller, Bette Midler, Sean Penn and more to talk about failure – or what they labeled “failure,” but what was really an unparalleled opportunity for growth and revelation. I even want to delve into my own hardest moments, when I wrestled with setbacks, shame, and fear. We’ll still fail again. And again. But maybe if we fail better, we’ll feel better -- and maybe if we can all laugh together in failure, that's a start.

David, I really enjoy episodes when your enjoying / challenging yourself. Conversations with philosophers, writers, or other unconventionial guests really seem to make you light up. By all means, Please keep bringing in people that you have worked with or have special meaning in your life, but I just had to mention how great it is to hear you really push on something or someone your interesting in. Dream Guests Jane Goodall, Other Writers that you love, or regular people that you find interesting. Keep it up!

A fantastic series and I enjoy the easy flow of conversation; I particularly am attracted to how eloquent and articulate the opinions are expressed and explored. This specific episode however was highly anticipated but I’d have to say I was mildly disappointed. In comparison to the series, there was a bit of a wall with Anderson- alright, you don’t want to go there or go too deep, fine…but why then come onto the show if the bulk of it ended up being mostly a promotion for her products? I think if she were to make a return, there were some excellent topics that were brought up and fell off that I hope could be discussed more without the added exclusivity of “buy my thing and then I’ll maybe talk to you about something of substance.”

I already have a crush you, David. I really didn’t need “David Duchovny Why Don’t You Love Me?” stuck in my head. Aside from that, love the show, particularly your monotone voice.
‘Maggie Wheeler

Today I thought that interview with Maggie was spectacular! She’s such an amazing woman who was born with a fire in her soul! To go to audition to audition hoping to get a chance for a show or movie. She found a way to push her through the doors and achieved what she decided her career path was to be despite her mother and I applaud her dedication in the acting process. I listened to her voice and a whole gamma of emotions I was angry regarding the anti-Semitic behavior from the Networks I laughed, cried along with her. She has many blessings out there for her and for you as well. I don’t know if she wrote a novel about her life and struggles, because many of us (women) would enjoy reading about her. Perhaps you could speak to her on this subject! Her mother is a piece of work. I thought my parents were difficult, but she had it worse and overcame and conquered her career. My career vanished because my father pulled funding on my college tuition and forced me to come back home.
