Femi Otitoju with Fopé Ajanaku
Activist Fopé Ajanaku begins their journey uncovering Black LGBTQIA+ history with a black and white photo, showing a crowd of people marching together. We know the group to be members of the Black Lesbian and Gay Centre. They are marching against Section 28, in the late 1980s. Fopé tracks down Femi Otitoju who was working at Harringay Council when Section 28 came into force. Femi worked hard to resist the introduction of the clause to the local government act. Together they reflect on the importance of activism for Black LGBTQIA+ communities from the 70’s to today.
