Black Panthers 60th anniversary – Celebrating Women of the Black Panther Party w/ Ericka Huggins
On today’s show we celebrate women of the Black Panther w/ Ericka Huggins. We talk about her history with the Party, the assassination of her husband and child’s father, and how that led her to continue political work while raising her child – including a portion of time when she was wrongly incarcerated. Ericka Huggins is a human rights activist, poet, educator, leader in the Black Panther Party, and former political prisoner. For the past 40 years she has lectured across the country and internationally. She spent 14 years in the Black Panther Party, and eight years as Director of the renowned Oakland Community School. She is the author of Comrade Sisters: Women of the Black Panther Party with Photographs by Stephen Shames. —- Subscribe to our podcast: https://plinkhq.com/i/1637968343?to=page Get in touch: lawanddisorder@kpfa.org Follow us on socials @LawAndDis: https://twitter.com/LawAndDis; https://www.instagram.com/lawanddis/ The post Black Panthers 60th anniversary – Celebrating Women of the Black Panther Party w/ Ericka Huggins appeared first on KPFA.
