Dr. Melina Abdullah on Deadly Off-Duty ICE Killing in Los Angeles
On this episode, we speak with Dr. Melina Abdullah, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Grassroots about the murder of Keith Porter Jr., a 43-year-old father and community activist who was shot and killed on New Year’s Eve by an off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. Porter, who lived in Compton, was a member of Black Lives Matter–Los Angeles. In a statement, the organization said a vigil was organized not only to memorialize his life, but also to demand an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his killing. Advocates raised concerns about accountability when law enforcement officers — including federal agents — use deadly force while off duty. — Subscribe to this podcast: https://plinkhq.com/i/1637968343?to=page Get in touch: lawanddisorder@kpfa.org Follow us on socials @LawAndDis: https://twitter.com/LawAndDis; https://www.instagram.com/lawanddis/ The post Dr. Melina Abdullah on Deadly Off-Duty ICE Killing in Los Angeles appeared first on KPFA.
