Affordable Housing Profiteering w/ Michael Trujillo from the East Bay Community Law Center
We have a dramatic lack of affordable housing options, but for decades, federal policymakers have stripped away public resources. One problematic result is a privatized, market-driven orientation to affordable housing through what are called Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Properties. A new report says that policymakers must act to rein in corporate profiteers by increasing accountability that ensures affordable housing, with dignity for all. That report is called The Failure of For-Profit Affordable Housing — and How Tenants Are Organizing for Change, and it was written together by Urban Habitat and the East Bay Community Law Center.
