Divine Intervention

This show has the richness of an audiobook, the felicity of a radio play with the pacing and intrigue of a great podcast. The story is so layered and complex yet laid out clearly. Can’t wait for the next episode!!!!

I stumbled across this podcast yesterday by chance and am absolutely delighted that it exists. I just shared it with my mom to ask if she knew any of the cast of characters (my parents were married in the Paulist Center in the 70s). This was her reply: “Dad and I were members of the Paulist Center community during those tumultuous days and Patrick and Marianne Hughes (Brendan’s parents) were good friends. I still have photos of them and their two older children (Krissy and JoJo) in one of the shoeboxes in the front room cabinet. Dad and I participated in the protests surrounding the Paulist center sanctuary carrying Josh in a baby backpack emblazoned with a patch sewn onto the back proclaiming ‘War is not safe for children and other living things!’” I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. Thank you so much - this is already helping me better understand a part of my family’s history that I’ve never fully appreciated.

What a lovingly and carefully crafted telling of a deeply important story. Our host does a heart-breakingly beautiful job of capturing the histories of these social justice savants. I am also incredibly grateful for the obvious amount of time that went into painstakingly researching this incredible point in history. Just gorgeous.
