Kirsty Young, Lebanese-style lamb and aubergine stew and a primitivo
Nick and Angela welcome broadcasting royalty to DISH HQ. Kirsty Young began her career at BBC Radio Scotland. From there, she went into television news, presenting the flagship programmes on Channel 5 and ITV. In 2006, Kirsty was announced as Sue Lawley’s replacement on BBC Radio 4’s iconic show Desert Island Discs. Over a 12-year tenure, she interviewed the likes of David Beckham, David Attenborough and Dame Judi Dench. Kirsty Young also brought her inimitable style to coverage of William and Kate’s wedding in 2011 and the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. To the delight of the nation, Kirsty is back with a brand new podcast called Young Again, available now on BBC Sounds. Angela prepares a rich and hearty Lebanese-style lamb and aubergine stew for her friend and guest while Nick pours a Paolo Leo Primitivo di Manduria. They finish with a rich and buttery No.1 Crumble Top Mince Pie. Our trio talk about their love of mince pies (it’s never too early; see above), whether it is sacrilegious to have a Yorkshire pudding with a roast chicken, and more importantly, what they would tell their younger selves, if they could be young again. Just so you know, our podcast might contain the occasional mild swear word or adult theme.
