Executive Functioning Series - Long-Term Planning
Mary delves into how parents can be exemplifiers of long-term planning for their students. By listing out everything that needs to be done and demonstrating the benefits of working over a longer period of time, parents help their students build a schema for long-term planning. She uses an example of a teacher assigning a diorama to delve into the ways we can assist our students in creating a roadmap towards completion. By creating a routine around planning work, we can teach our students that by working over a longer period of time, we get to be more creative, ask more questions, and take pride in your work.
