Slutty Poetry with Jaclyn Desforges
On this episode of Slut, I speak with award-winning poet, queer, neurodivergent, mother and partner, Jaclyn Desforges (@jaclyndesforges) with the release of her new book, Danger Flower. To start the conversation, Jaclyn reads her poem, Forest Fire (3:55). From there, we dive into her first experiences with slut-shaming and how they shaped her perception (4:52). We discuss being diagnosed with ADHD and autism at age 31 (8:14) and the queerness of autism (13:26). After that, we explore why she got married at 22, why they decided to open up their marriage (17:13), the difficulties of early motherhood (21:32), and how she controls jealousy in a polyamorist relationship (24:48). Then Jaclyn reads her poem, Things Change (28:41), and we talk about how street harassment changes with age and different styles (29:46). To finish our discussion, Jaclyn reads her favourite piece from Danger Flower, Ventilation (35:24), and we discuss motherhood and what sluttiness means to her now (36:44).To learn more about Jaclyn Desforges visit her website: https://www.nestandstory.com/To Purchase Danger Flower: https://palimpsestpress.ca/books/danger-flower/ Theme Music: In My Love by Brockbeats Other Music: Episode and Liquid Sunshine by Brockbeats To Listen and Purchase Music: https://brockbeats.bandcamp.com/ If you want to connect with me, send me an email slutpodcast@gmail.comAnd follow me on Instagram, @kaitlindryden Hosted on Acast.
