My Time Capsule

A podcast that asks guests, such as Stephen Fry, David Mitchell, Caroline Quentin, Ross Noble, Lee Mack, Arabella Weir & Rob Brydon, for five things which they’d like to put in a Time Capsule. They can choose anything from an item, to a memory, a film or even a country. Four of them are things they want to preserve but one has to be something they’re happy to bury and never have to think about again. Hosted by Michael Fenton Stevens. Podcast of the Week in The Times, The Guardian and The Radio Times. @fentonstevens @MyTCpod Get bonus episodes and ad-free listening by becoming a team member with Acast+! My Time Capsule Podcast is an absolute gem for anyone who loves engaging, insightful conversations with a personal twist. Hosted by the ever-charming and warm Michael Fenton Stevens, the show invites a diverse range of guests—from actors and musicians to comedians and writers, and most points in between. to share four cherished items they’d place in a time capsule, plus one they’d rather forget. The concept is simple but incredibly effective, offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives, memories, and personalities of the guests. Each episode is a perfect blend of nostalgia, humor, and heartfelt storytelling. Michael’s interviewing style is a standout—he’s genuinely interested in his guests, putting them at ease with his wit and kindness, making for natural and engaging conversations. One of the best things about My Time Capsule is its unpredictability. Some guests bring deeply personal or moving choices, while others surprise with quirky or hilarious selections. The result is a show that can make you laugh out loud one moment and get misty-eyed the next. Whether you’re a fan of the guests or just love a good story, this podcast is a must-listen. It’s the kind of show that reminds you how objects, moments, and experiences shape who we are. Highly recommended!

I can’t remember how I came across My Time Capsule but it has lodged itself firmly into my weekly rotation. On paper, it shouldn’t appeal as much as it does - I’m an American, 20+ years younger than Mike with little interest and even less knowledge of theater or British television. I have usually never heard of the guest. Why is it then that I have now listened to 200+ episodes and, at times when I just want to put something on in the background, choose My Time Capsule more than any other podcast? I think it’s because of the good nature of the conversations. There doesn’t seem to be an agenda other than learning from various life experiences, laughing at misfortune, commiseration and finding common ground. In that sense it’s a very “safe” listen. I can expect to hear a new perspective from my own with each episode. You get to know the producing team because of different angles of the same family stories show up every now and then. That’s not to say you won’t be caught off guard by some candid, unfiltered stories, dad jokes or capsule choices. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who enjoys good, entertaining conversations and is open to expanding their world view. Keep up the fabulous work, Mike and John! - David from Long Island, New York
One of the best podcasts around

This is the podcast I listen to as soon as it drops. It is like joining in a conversation between friends, even when Mike has only just met his guest. As an American with a narrow knowledge of popular culture, I’m usually unfamiliar with the guests’ work, but I still thoroughly enjoy each episode. Mike is one of the best hosts I’ve ever heard-he’s a gem! Yes, Mike, you’re—Brilliant!
