At the King's direction, the Lord Chamberlain wrote to senior stakeholders across government, the military and the Lord-Lieutenancies confirming the Sussexes remain private individuals rather than working royals, and that their charitable work is undertaken privately. Two days later Uganda's defence chief withdrew the country from the Invictus Games rather than back anything without "His Majesty's approval."
