"We were called Nazis": The feminists who fought the trans mob, and won
With the health secretary Wes Streeting banning puberty blocker drugs for children and President Trump barring trans women from women’s sports, is the tide turning on the transgender debate? Perhaps, but it hasn’t come without a fight, often from women who have been de-platformed, sacked and abused for challenging the orthodoxy. Julie Bindel and Helen Joyce are two such women, who have been labelled Nazis and bigots for championing female spaces and sex-based rights. Kamal and Camilla sat down with the journalists and feminist campaigners at Oxford Literary Festival for a conversation about trans ideology, toxic masculinity, and the harmful influence of adult film stars Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips.
